Welcome to The Road Ahead!
Welcome to The Road Ahead, the official blog of the Appia Developer Program! Here we’ll cover everything from important Appia announcements and industry news, to marketing tips and best-practices for building great apps. We might even throw in some opportunities for you to win free stuff! (And we’re talking good stuff like free localization services, not boring stuff like T-shirts, but we’ll probably give away some of those, too.) The blog will serve as your roadmap, helping you to navigate not just the Appia Developer Program, but also the challenges of building, distributing and monetizing mobile applications. No matter what mobile OS you develop for, this blog is for you. App publishers and advertisers welcome, too.
Here’s a look at what you can expect to encounter on The Road Ahead:
Headlights: Every month we’ll spotlight one of our favorite apps from Appia’s catalog and discuss what it is that makes these apps so download-worthy and popular with consumers.
Shortcuts: A wise man (or woman) once said, “Work smarter, not harder.” We’ll showcase tips, tricks and tools that can help you do just that! If you have a faster, easier or just plain better way to do something and you’d be willing to share your shortcut with the rest of the Appia Developer community, please email it to us at shortcuts@appia.com! If we feature your tip on the blog, we’ll send you something really cool! (We haven’t decided what that cool thing will be yet, so stay tuned.)
On Ramps: Announcements of new distribution channels, partnerships and opportunities for you to reach more consumers and drive more downloads.
Road Signs: Where is the mobile apps industry headed? We will point out important mobile industry news, trends, and events, as well as any juicy rumors circulating the blogosphere, to help keep you traveling in the right direction.
Billboards: You’ve built a great app, now what? We’ll offer marketing lessons and advice on topics that range from writing effective app descriptions and choosing the best pricing model to ways that you can use social media to drive downloads, and more importantly, create loyal users.
Tune-Ups :Info on updates, enhancements and new features in the Developer Portal, as well any Site status reports.
Roadkill: Basically, we will “run over” anything that’s bad for developers or just plain stupid.
